CMMC stands for Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification. The US Department of Defense (DOD) initiated the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) to enhance and strengthen the cybersecurity posture of DOD contractors across the Defense Industrial Base (DIB).
Compliance with CMMC requires that 300,000+ existing DOD contractors, and new ones, undergo a detailed cybersecurity audit and certification at a level that is equal to the risk to the information within their care.
